2010 ROTARY WEST SOFTBALL

TOURNAMENT RULES

 
MEN’S DIVISION:

 
  1. LIMITED ENTRIES:  The tournament may be restricted to the first 32 teams entered.  The tournament format is double elimination.  The committee has determined for convenience and economic reasons the tournament will be conducted at Lincoln Park and Anderson Field.  We may use Poerio Park in the event of weather problems or delays requiring rescheduling.  Given the limited number of entries available, we encourage all interested teams to register early to avoid being turned away.
  2. ELIGIBLE TEAMS: Teams playing in Kenosha County Leagues sanctioned by the Rotary Tournament Commissioners.
  3.  PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:  Your Rotary team roster must match your current roster with the Kenosha County League you are currently playing in.  There shall be a maximum of fifteen (15) players on each roster. 
  4. TEAM ELIGIBILITY: The team manager MUST submit to the tournament director at the time of registration a copy of your current Kenosha County League roster in which your team currently plays.  No exceptions.
  5. DIVISION:  12” Double Elimination.  Rotary West reserves the right to implement two divisions based on the entries received.  Rotary West further reserves the right to determine team classifications.  Final tournament format will be determination after all entries are received.
  6. BAT RESTRICTIONS: For the safety of our players and fans, all composite bats are BANNED from the tournament and all players are required to use aluminum barreled bats only. 
    1. We reserve the right to utilize a restricted bat list.  If so, we will notify team managers approximately one week prior to the tournament.

 
WOMEN’S DIVISION:

 
  1. LIMITED ENTRIES:  The tournament may be restricted to the first 16 teams entered.  The tournament format is double elimination.  The committee has determined for convenience and economic reasons the tournament will be conducted at Lincoln Park and Anderson Field.  We may use Poerio Park in the event of weather problems or delays requiring rescheduling.  Given the limited number of entries available, we encourage all interested teams to register early to avoid being turned away.
  2. ELIGIBLE TEAMS:  All Kenosha teams and any out-of-town teams are eligible to participate.
  3. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:  As the tournament is completely open, there are no player eligibility rules.
  4. DIVISION:  12” Double Elimination.  Rotary West reserves the right to implement two divisions based on the entries received.  Rotary West further reserves the right to determine team classifications.  Final tournament format will be determination after all entries are received.  A round robin format or a combination of both round robin and double elimination may be considered.
  5. BAT RESTRICTIONS: For the safety of our players and fans, all composite bats are BANNED from the tournament and all players are required to use aluminum barreled bats only.

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S DIVISIONS:

 
  1. ONE TEAM PER PLAYER:  As in the past, players will be restricted to playing on only one team in the tournament.  The player and team must designate which team the player will be playing with in the tournament at the time the teams’ entries are submitted.  If no designation is made, the team the player first plays for in the tournament will be deemed their eligible team.  If the player plays on a subsequent team, the subsequent team will be subject to forfeiture of the game.
  2. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY PROTEST:  As in the past, a team manager must present player protests.  To be considered a valid protest, it must be made before the end of an inning in which the protested player entered the game defensively or if the protested player does not enter the game defensively, the protest must be filed when the player the player comes to bat for the first time.  The protest must be made to an umpire, who in turn will consult with a tournament commissioner.  A Tournament Commissioner will decide player protests.  Valid protests will result in loss and forfeiture of the game for the team using an ineligible player.
  3. GAME RULES:
    1. SLAUGHTER RULE:  There will be a “Slaughter Rule” for all 1st and 2nd round winner’s bracket and first round loser’s bracket games.  Any team trailing by 12 runs after five innings will be declared losers under the rule and the game will be complete.  Any game may be shortened in the event of a lopsided score based upon agreement between team managers.
    2. COURTESY RUNNERS:  The team managers prior to each game will permit the use of courtesy runners based upon agreement.  If there is no agreement, no courtesy runners will be allowed.
  4. UMPIRES:  Beside from player eligibility protests, calls made by an umpire can be appealed to another umpire.  Upon the umpire’s agreement, the decision is final and not subject to protest.  Umpires will be responsible for checking all bats prior to the game.  Any bat in question should be checked prior to being used in the game.  Any player to use an illegal bat shall be subject to being ejected from the game.

The Rotary Tournament Commissioners and Tournament Director reserve the right to make any changes to the Tournament and/or rules.
